Discord drops the hammer on data-scraping ‘Spy.pet’ website, says it is ‘considering appropriate legal action’

Every week after a report revealed a website known as Spy.pet that claimed to have scraped billions of public messages posted to Discord and was providing them on the market, Discord has banned a number of accounts linked to the positioning, which has now gone offline.

Discord stated when Spy.pet was first reported that it was “investigating the matter,” including that “if we decide that violations of our Phrases of Service and Neighborhood Tips have occurred, we’ll take applicable steps to implement our insurance policies.” And so it has: A brand new 404 Media report says Spy.pet was at one level scraping as many as 14,000 Discord servers, however that quantity had trailed right down to 0 by April 25.
