Genres are damaged. Damaged, I argue, past restore. We have to crumple them up and throw all of them away.
Genres all the time have been damaged, after all. They’re, as with all different type of human-invented categorization, arbitrary. The notion of labeling any particular recreation as one “kind” is inherently nonsensical, all artwork current on an infinite spectrum, the boundaries of labels drawn completely subjectively. That’s been the case without end, and it’s notable that about 15 years in the past there have been rising calls to desert style titles altogether as they felt so needlessly restrictive and complicated. – John Walker Learn Extra
